I started playing the Pokemon TCG in the Journey Together format. I was just learning how to play, so I hadn’t landed on a deck, but I wouldn’t have to wait long for Cynthia’s Garchomp ex to release in the Destined Rivals expansion. I knew the card had to be good, so I locked that in as my archetype. I’m very proud to say that I’ve reached Arceus rank on the TCGLive ladder every reset since BB/WF with only Garchomp! I also managed to make day 2 at my first major, the Indianapolis Regional Championships, finishing 328th. Most recently, I competed in Full Grip Games’ Pitch Black Standard 3k where I was the only Chomp in the room & bubbled out of cut, going 6-1-1.

What's your go-to archetype in the current meta?
AndrewG_TCG@andrewgMy go-to deck is obviously Chomp, but my backup would likely be PultNoir with candy.

How do you test, and when do you lock your list?
AndrewG_TCG@andrewgI test a lot on PTCGLive, climbing the ladder, but also test with my group in-person at least twice a week! When locking in a list for a tournament, I take a step back and look at the meta & what I expect to succeed. Based off that, a couple cards may change, but the archetype I play almost never changes.

What's the next deck you're working on?
AndrewG_TCG@andrewgI’m excited to build Mega Rayquaza once Delta Reign releases in the West! I have an idea of it’ll look like, but we’ll just have to wait & see!
